About Me
Steven Tran
DJ Transit
Transit started learning the craft when he was first exposed to the Hip-Hop culture in his early teens. When he saw the chance to DJ his first paid gig at his grade school, he immediately took initiative to buy his first sound system. For a few years, he spun at different types of private events from backyard parties to sweet sixteens to perfect his forte focusing on Top 40, Pop, and Hip-Hop/Rap.
Looking up to heavyweight giants like DJ AM and DJ Jazzy Jeff, Transit practiced everyday in hopes to rock nightclubs and festivals all around the world. After saving enough money from working part-time and spinning gigs, he bought his first digital vinyl setup; 2 Technics SL-1200MK2 turntables and Rane TTM-57SL mixer. Transit proved to be a mega force on the decks, working for one of the Tri-State’s biggest entertainment companies and 2010 DJ Times Expo DJ Entertainer of the Year; A Sharp Production. They provided him the fundamentals and training to acquire the musical knowledge and song selection needed for large private functions such as bar/bat mitzvahs and weddings. It was now that he learned how to mix multiple genres including Motown, Funk, Disco, 80’s, Old School, and Classic Rock to please an audience of all different ages.
After graduating from Lansdale Catholic High School, DJ Transit attended Drexel University majoring in Health Sciences. Here, he learned a new genre and style: electronic dance music. Experimenting with mostly electro and dirty dutch house music, he absolutely fell in love with the thrill and party feel it can bring to the dance floor. His diverse and energetic party sets gained him a lot of exposure and a bigger fan base. DJ Transit went on to spin at Philadelphia’s hottest bars and club venues including Shampoo Nightlcub, Club 27, G Lounge, Hard Rock Cafe, Red Zone, King's Oak, Grey Lounge, Pinnacle Nightclub, 879 Lounge, The Blockley, Pub Webb, Tavern on Broad, Arts Ballroom, Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing, Citizens Bank (Hall of Fame Club/Diamond Club), and more. He opened up for Chris Webby and Logic, connected with Clint Coley for his comedy tour, “All Jokes Aside College Tour” at Rutgers University, William Patterson University, and University of Maryland, and DJ'ed for Deena and Jenni (J-Wow) of MTV's Jersey Shore. Transit also performed alongside the likes of: The Cataracs, Schwayze, Switch of Major Lazer, Porter Robinson, Logic, Chris Webby, Autoerotique, T3RROR, Jokers of the Scene, Freeway, Tayyib Ali, Gilbere Forte, The Sexy Sax Man, and Ground Up.
After graduating college, Transit decided to become a full-time DJ pursuing his passion. He joined the company, Limelight Event Group, where he managed production and eventually became one of the partners. This gave him the opportunity to spin in Atlantic City, Baltimore, Boston, Dallas, D.C., Chicago, Jersey, Memphis and New York. Wanting to take his career to the next level, Transit immersed himself into production. He caught the ear of record pool, Heavy Hits, where DJs from around the world can download his exclusive edits and remixes. Being the entrepreneur he is, Transit along with close friend, Aaron Raysor, created BKS Productions, a photography and videography company, and Photobooth Phresh, a digital photo booth company.
Currently still living in the Philadelphia area, Transit is constantly creating new memories for his clients and couples.
